In the forebrain and mid-brain, widespread and general neuronal cytoplasmic immunostining is noticed in virtually all neurons but with variable signal intensities (weak to strong). Strong immunoreactivity is noticed in the neocortex, hippocampus CA2, caudate putament, anterior hypothalamus, hypothalamic paraventricular and arcuate nuceli and in the suprachiasmatic nucleus.
In the pons and medulla, the moderate intensity somatic cytoplasmic neuronal immunolabelling is more restricted to certain nuclei/regions, like pontine nuclei, periaqueductal gray matter, locus coeruleus, facial nucleus.
Choroid plexus cells also exhibit strong immunoreactivity.
