Reticulocalbin 2 is a calcium-binding protein that is widely expressed across human tissues (including brain), but exhibits higher RNA levels in epididymis and testis. In the mouse, broad but selective cytoplasmic immunostaining is seen in subsets of neurons and glial cells throughout the entire brain. All layers of the olfactory bulb are very strongly stained, while brain vessel walls, ependymal cells at the brain surface and choroid plexus cells exhibit pronounced staining too.
