Dyslexia-associated protein KIAA0319 exhibits particularly high RNA levels across many areas of the human CNS. Similarly, in the mouse,
moderate- to strong-intensity immunostaining of neuronal axonal- and dendritic processes are noticed throughout the entire brain. Occasionally, neuronal cell bodies are also immunoreactive. This patterns is more pronounced in the neocortical layers II and VI, septum, Ventral Diagonal Band, BNST nuclei, anterior hypothalamus, hippocampus and periaqueductal gray matter. The cerebellar Purkinje-cell somas are strongly immunoreactive too.
