Annotation summary	The muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M1 RNA is widely expressed across the human CNS, with additional regionally increased distribution in the salivary gland and prostate tissue. In the mouse, moderate/strong intensity cytoplasmic neuronal somatic- or somatodendritic immunostaining is noticed throughout the entire brain, in accordance with available transcriptomic data. In addition, diffuse/synaptic-type immunostaining of synaptic fields is noticed in parts of gray matter, being more predominant in the caudate putamen, caudal areas of neocortex, amygdala and the hippocampus.
